About the Artist

Welcome to my website. As an artist, my work is deeply rooted in the natural world and the quiet, everyday beauty it offers—especially here on Vancouver Island, where I live. I’m endlessly drawn to water in all its forms: the ocean, lakes, rivers, ponds, and even the unexpected reflections you find in something as ordinary as a parking-lot puddle. Light, colour, and reflection fascinate me, and they often become the starting point for a painting.
I’ve been a photographer for most of my life, and over the years I’ve built up a personal archive of images that continue to inspire me. Many of those photographs have found a second life as paintings. Most of my earlier work is acrylic, and through it I try to celebrate the joy and calm of being outdoors—whether that place feels untouched by humans or quietly shaped by them. I’m especially interested in spaces where people work, play, or simply pause and feel a sense of freedom or peace.
While landscapes make up much of my work, I also love painting portraits and still life. Some of my favourite pieces are portraits or action scenes of children immersed in outdoor activities—often painted by request for family or friends. I’m also inspired by places I’ve travelled and the memories tied to them.
In the past year, I’ve begun working in oils, and I’m completely captivated by the richness and vibrancy of the medium. Painting is something I came to later in life, and that has made the journey especially meaningful. The encouragement, generosity, and support I’ve received from other artists has been incredibly motivating, and nothing makes me happier than knowing a painting I’ve created has become part of someone’s life.
As a member of the Victoria Sketch Club, I have participated in their annual exhibitions since 2023. I’ve also exhibited with the Victoria Arts Council and will be showing work this spring, 2026, as part of the Fairfield Artists’ Studio Tour.
